Welcome to the Parents’ Association
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and to the O’Neal Parents’ Association. As a parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled at The O’Neal School, you are automatically a member of the Parents’ Association. Our mission is to provide support and encouragement to the administration and faculty in their efforts to develop each student’s academic and creative potential, through volunteer and fundraising activities. We also plan informational, educational and social activities for parents to promote collegiality and community at O’Neal.
Through a variety of fundraising events, the Parents’ Association directly contributes to a number of fiscal initiatives benefiting the school. Past projects have included funding the science room in the new Lower School, a new floor in the gymnasium, a portion of the Theater in the new Activities Center and a portion of the new outdoor play/recreation area for the Middle School students. During the 2009-2010 academic year, the PA will focus on raising money for current programs and events.
The PA also organizes a number of activities and events that foster a sense of community and involvement in both students and parents. From sponsoring new students and their families to providing refreshments during Special Persons’ Day, parent volunteers assist faculty and administrative personnel in making O’Neal a positive and nurturing learning environment for our children.
Another mission of the PA is to promote both parental and student education by sponsoring speakers and programs on a variety of issues. During the upcoming year, the PA will bring in speakers on topics including student health and safety. Additionally, the PA strives to create a forum for the expression and exchange of ideas between the parents and the school. The PA publishes a newsletter full of important information several times a year.
