As you may know, flu (among other sicknesses) can be easily spread from person to person. O'Neal is making every effort to protect your child at school. You can assist with this initiative by recognizing symptoms that may prompt you to keep your child at home. They are the following:
1. Fever: Child must be fever free (100.4 or less) for 24 hours (without medicine)
2. Diarrhea/Vomitting: Child will be kept home until illness is over and 24 hours have passed since the last episode (without medicine)
3. Flu/Flu Symptoms/Bad Cough/Cold Symptoms: Child is excluded from school and is seen by primary care provider and treated if appropriate, before returning to school.
4. Streptococcal and Staphylococcal Infections: Child is excluded from school until treated with a prescription antibiotic for 24 hours and fever free for 24 hours.
Information as to whether or not flu vaccinations will be offered on campus for your children will be forthcoming. Please consult your primary care physician or your local health department for more information on flu vaccinations.
Feel free to email Laura Delmonaco, school nurse if you have any questions.
