“Naming the World: The O’Neal Summer Writing Program”
This summer writing program aims to help students develop a passion for writing through seminars in multiple genres of writing, including poetry, fiction, personal narrative, and newspaper writing. Students will learn strategies for developing their ideas, crafting an effective piece of writing and then revising, editing, and critiquing their work in writers’ workshops. The camp will feature two tracks: one for young writers, rising 5th – 8th grade, and more mature writers, rising 9th – 12 grade. The session culminates in the students working together to write, edit, and design their own publication, “The O’Neal Summer Literary Journal.” *Students will have breaks and may bring a packed lunch daily
