We encourage the use of the McMurray Library. The goal of the O'Neal School Library is to provide resources and assistance for students, faculty, administrators, and staff which support the school mission statement and curriculum.
The library is open Monday – Thursday 8am to 4pm and Fridays 8am to 3pm.
All students, faculty, administrators, and staff may check out and check in their own library materials using the library's Winnebago Circulation System. For Middle and Upper School students, faculty, administrators, and staff, there is no limit to the number of materials checked out.
Generally, Lower School students may check out one book per week during Library visits. All circulating Library materials are checked out for one week and may be renewed. Reference materials may not be checked out. Videos, newspapers, and magazines may only be checked out by faculty.
The O'Neal Library has an online catalog program through which titles, authors, and subjects may be searched. Library materials are cataloged according to the Dewey Decimal System.
The library catalog also allows searching for newspapers and magazines, by subject, through World Book Online and EBSCO database. Articles which are needed for school projects may be printed. The database covers, in general, the past 5 years.
Computer Terminals as well as 20 laptop computers are available for accessing these resources.
A copier in the library is available for student use when needed for academic projects.
Class visits to the Library are generally arranged by teachers, either on a regular basis or as needed. Occasionally, faculty members will request that library materials on a particular subject be made available for a period of time in classrooms. Students are welcome to use the library at any time the library is open.
Wireless Internet Access
There is wireless Internet Access available for students using the McMurray Library. Students are encouraged to bring their laptops to the library as long as they abide by the school's Acceptable Use Policy.
