The O'Neal School Middle School emphasizes a traditional, structured program of academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities, community service, and special events for the education of the whole child. The Middle School grades follow the Core Knowledge Curriculum.
The faculty expects students to stretch their abilities and to strive to fulfill their potential. They want their students to be active learners. To help students meet these goals, teachers seek to know and understand their students as individuals and to provide them with the challenges, encouragement, and support they need to grow intellectually and personally.
O'Neal students are active in extracurricular activities and events. The School offers many opportunities to develop special interests and talents, to take initiative, and to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
Good discipline is essential to the learning environment and to the tone of daily life at O'Neal. It begins with self-discipline and consideration for others. The School expects students to understand and to observe basic rules, but also to display the standards of conduct appropriate to the given situation in a setting where civility and mutual respect are the rule, not the exception.
