Financial Aid

The O’Neal School strives to make it possible for all students who qualify for admission to attend our school. Each year The O’Neal School sets aside a portion of tuition dollars to provide need-based financial aid grants to students whose families demonstrate that they cannot afford to pay the full tuition from their own resources.

In determining eligibility for financial aid grants, O’Neal relies on the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools. Approximately one in four students currently attending O’Neal receives financial aid.

Prior to receiving any financial aid award, each applicant must complete The O’Neal School admissions process. (The admissions process and financial aid process can proceed simultaneously. However, no award will be made until the student has been admitted.)

Financial Aid Process

Obtain the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) form from the Admissions Office. Complete the PFS forms online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss or mail the completed form directly to School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) along with the $24 processing fee. In cases of divorce, O'Neal requires that both parents file financial aid forms, in order to provide the Financial Aid Committee with a full picture of the family resources.

Mail or deliver to the Admissions Office a copy of your current year’s W-2 forms and complete Federal tax return. All information submitted is held in the strictest confidence.

SSS makes a recommendation to the O’Neal Financial Aid Committee approximately three weeks after receipt of your PFS form.  For quicker processing of your PFS, complete the PFS online. Online applications are usually processed within 72 hours. The Financial Aid Committee considers completed financial aid applications on a rolling basis beginning in the early spring. Therefore, it is important to get all information to us as soon as possible.

First consideration is given to current families already receiving financial aid and to current families applying for the first time. Grants continue to be awarded until the funds are depleted.

Parents are notified of a financial aid award in writing. Parents must sign and return the Financial Aid Agreement.
