Welcome to the O’Neal Booster Club!
The O’Neal Booster Club was formed by and is comprised of many very enthusiastic parents dedicated to supporting and promoting O’Neal School Athletics. The Booster Club works in conjunction with the O’Neal Athletic Department. We continually strive to cultivate a sense of school spirit and a positive image of athletics, not only for our athletes but for our entire student body. We invite all O’Neal families to participate with this endeavor by joining Booster Club.
Through fund-raising efforts, membership dues, concessions, and gate fees, Booster Club has been able to make many contributions to The O’Neal School over the years. These include:
• Scorer's table and 26 padded team side-line chairs in our gym
• Protective floor cover for the gym
• Sound system for the gym
• Windscreen, fence cap, and bleachers for the baseball field
• Half the cost of upgrading the irrigation system on the soccer field
• Portable sound system utilized at outdoor athletic events
• One of four portable AEDs on campus
• Banners for the gym
• Uniforms and athletic equipment
Boosters Club co-hosts O’Neal Falcon teams and their families at seasonal Sports Awards Nights where, in addition to athletic department awards and recognitions to all team members, the Booster Club presents senior athletes with special gifts of recognition. We also show appreciation to O’Neal’s dedicated coaches with a Coaches’ Dinner in the spring of each year.
Boosters has pledged $50,000 over a 5-year period to the O’Neal School “Complete the Vision” campaign. To date, $20,000 of this pledge has been given to the school, all of which is designated to the new gym in the Activities Center.
“Homecoming”, held during basketball season, concludes Spirit Week. This home game is made special with fun-filled half-time events and includes O’Neal cheerleaders tossing Booster Club funded “spirit items” into the bleachers to O’Neal’s all-important supportive spectators. Booster Club funds are raised that night with a pre-game dinner and concessions. Capping the evening is the presentation of O’Neal’s Homecoming Court and the crowning of our Homecoming Queen followed by the Homecoming Dance.
Booster Club is able to raise funds by selling Peking Wok lunches on select Fridays throughout the school year. Parents order ahead of time for each half of the year, once in August and again in December. The Booster Club also sells “Valentine Bags” that Middle and Upper School parents can pre-order to surprise their students with a bag filled with goodies and spirit items. Booster members deliver these bags to your student’s locker on Valentine’s Day with an attached special message from you.
Booster Club also coordinates with the Athletic Department and Dr. Darryl Simpkins of Sandhills Emergency Physicians, a former O’Neal parent, to provide an opportunity for students to receive their sports physicals on campus. These physicals meet the requirements to participate in O’Neal sports and the fees for these physicals are donated to the Booster Club by Dr. Simpkins.
This year, Boosters is partnering with the Parents’ Association in the sale of “Spirit Wear” which will include tee shirts, sweatpants, adult hoodies, and kid’s zip hoodies for all to wear to display their school spirit! The spirit wear will be on sale at various school functions and sporting events during the school year.
Of course, last but not least, we have concessions at O’Neal home games where we sell drinks, hotdogs, candy and lots of other goodies to keep your energy up to cheer on our teams!
As you can see, becoming a Booster Club member is not just for families of athletes. The work of the Booster Club impacts not only our athletes but our entire student body and parents alike. We are always looking for fresh, new ideas as well as help in continuing the efforts already in place and invite you to join us at our next meeting.
