Cross Country

The 2010 cross country season is coming sooner than you think...

**ANNOUNCEMENTS**

Our first practice of the 2010 season is on Monday, August 2nd, at the activities center on campus. We will be running from 8-9:30am. The following week of Monday, August 9th, will see practice move to 6-7:30pm to accommodate faculty training at school and allow time for the afternoon heat to abate. Once the regular school year starts we will hold practice daily from 3:45-5:30pm. Practices will start and end at the activities center.

If you don't have an athletic physical yet, please take care of it ASAP. The form is available to download from the athletics drop down menu under "Athletic Physical Form." You must also have an academic contract for the 2010-11 school year turned in to be eligible to practice. For the beginning of the year we recommend being able to complete 2 miles in 18 minutes as a minimum level of fitness to start the season. Let us know if there are any questions.

**ANNOUNCEMENTS**

Saturday, 5/15, saw the conclusion of our state championship. After two long hot days we managed to see new school records and points won across the board. O'Neal boys finished 15th of 22 schools and O'Neal girls finished 14th of 18. Alison Rhyne has hosted a good set of photos from the meet on her web album which is accessible through the link below. Our individual records and PR's are as follows:

Captain Jon Shudra (Senior) - Shot Put, 8th place 35'11.5"
                            - Discus, 4th place 113'9" (new school record)

Chris Payton (Senior) - Long Jump, 7th place 19'4.25"
                      - Triple Jump, 3rd place, medal winner, 39' 6.25" (new school record)

Zach Horner (Senior) - Shot Put, 32'7.25" (personal record)
                     - Discus, 94'2" (3rd place on the O'Neal record list)

Chris Waddell (Senior) - Discus, 90'5" (p.r.; 4th place on the O'Neal record list)

Alexander Waddell (Sophomore) - Personal records in 800 (2:28.89) and 1600 (5:24)

Austin Puleo (Sophomore) - 800m Dash, 4th place 2:04.67 (personal record)

Captain Blair Puleo (Senior) - Discus, 8th place 71' (personal record)

Aleksandra Majka (8th grade) - 100m Hurdles, 7th place 19.02 (2nd place school record)

Mulloy Manning (8th grade) - 3200m run 13:30 (personal record - advances to 2nd place school record)

The full results are listed HERE. Coach Kazior and I commend all of our athletes for a season which saw performance increases across the board. It has been especially gratifying to watch our seniors bestow their years of experience onto the younger team members to prepare them for the coming year. Thank you all for a terrific season.
