Giving to O'Neal
As members of The O’Neal School family, it is important for you to know that our students are the beneficiaries of the prior generosity of many people. Only with the support of families and friends will O’Neal continue to build upon the school’s exceptional foundation.
Charitable giving is an important tradition for many people. Making gifts for the benefit of others offers a wonderful way to affirm your values and priorities. However, when you give to The O’Neal School, we want to make sure that the type of gift you choose is most beneficial for you and your tax situation. The O’Neal School is a private, not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization; therefore, gifts are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Like all independent schools throughout the country, financial support beyond tuition revenue is necessary. The Board of Trustees annually approves the school’s budget and sets tuition. In order to balance the priority of reasonable tuition with the need to provide exceptional educational programs and facilities for our students, attract a diverse student body, and assure that O’Neal has competitive teacher salaries and benefits, it is necessary for the school to seek funding above tuition.
As an independent school, O’Neal receives no financial support from federal, state or local governments. The sole sources of income are tuition, voluntary gifts from private contributors, events, and income from invested resources. Because our school is young, these investment resources are limited.
The O'Neal School provides the following opportunities for giving:
- The Complete the Vision capital campaign is now underway. Requesting funds over and beyond the normal annual giving contribution, this campaign will help to complete the third and final phase of The O’Neal School Master Campus Plan. For more information go to the Complete the Vision page.
- The Annual Fund and the Auction continue to be important to O’Neal. These two events support the annual budget and provide a means for the school community to work together in support of the school's mission. Donors giving cash gifts of $1,000 or more are honored at the Annual Headmaster’s Dinner. However, gifts of any size are most appreciated and the participation among our constituents help us to show interest and support to the foundations that we apply to for grants. Gifts given during the school's fiscal year, July through June, are recorded and donors are recognized in our Annual Report. For more information, go to the Annual Fund or Auction page.
- The Endowment at O’Neal also helps support ongoing operations, but more importantly ensures the long term viability of our school. Endowment funds are invested and their growth provides stability for the long-term growth of O’Neal. There are a number of ways that you can help grow our endowment fund and provide tax benefits to yourself as well. For more information, go to the Endowment page.
Unless donors wish to remain anonymous, all donors will be recognized the The O’Neal School Annual Report which is published in the fall of each year.
