O'Neal 6th Grade Travels to Camp Seafarer

The O’Neal 6th graders returned Friday, the 25th, from a wonderful two night trip to Camp Seafarer, which is situated right on the banks of the Neuse River, near New Bern.
The “fine 29” enjoyed indoor and outdoor competitions (of the mild variety) which led to discussions and realizations about the nature of esprit de corps and the joy of spending time together away from the confines of school.

The campers enjoyed plenty of time in the water, a visit from a marine biologist from the North Carolina Aquarium, a night hike where sparks flew and s’mores were devoured, as well as some unstructured time for basketball, soccer, knuckleball, and what have you. Whoever says “kids today don’t play” was not around this group. Trip leader Alison Coates was heard to say it was the best “overnighter” of her career.
