We have definitely enjoyed this lovely “winter” weather! On Wednesday we made good use of it, too. During Morning Meeting, the fifth and sixth graders were put into mixed-grade teams for a rotation of friendly contests. Students were able to earn spirit points for the Blue or Red team by demonstrating cooperation and good sportsmanship. They participated in horse, foursquare, human rock-paper-scissors, and riddle solving. They had a great time!
While the fifth and sixth graders were participating in the above activities, the seventh and eighth graders listened to a presentation on the Upper School. The academic department heads and other members of the faculty spoke about the exciting opportunities, academic, athletic, and social, that are available to them in our upper division.
Our eighth graders then spent the morning in the upper school where they participated in three classes and enjoyed a game of human hungry, hungry hippo with the ninth grade. We have heard many positive reports from the students about how engaging the classes were as well as positive reports from the teachers whose class they visited.
In other news, our seventh and eighth graders will begin to prepare for exams at the end of the month. Teachers are diligently working on study guides in order to prepare students for these larger assessments. We are committed to guiding our young students through the whole process of preparing for, taking, and reflecting on their exams.
Make sure that you mark your calendars for Oliver!
