O'Neal Announces Norris as Baseball Coach

Brian Norris has joined The O’Neal School Athletics Program as the head varsity baseball coach for the 2019-2020 school year.

Norris was an all-conference baseball player for two of his four-year high school career and Legion Player of the Year as a senior. He went on to attend UNC-Charlotte on a baseball scholarship and later transferred to Mt. Olive College where he blossomed into a starting pitcher for the Trojans.

After college, Norris began to get involved in youth sports, especially baseball. An active coach for nearly 25 years, Norris is the founder of the Sandhills Stingrays organization that he started five years ago. The Stingrays is a travel baseball and softball program that has become very successful in the Sandhills area. The program has grown from one baseball team into an organization that presently fields teams from 7-18 years old for both boys and girls.

Norris exclaimed his delight at becoming the varsity coach. "I am excited for the opportunity to join The O’Neal School family. I look forward to working to make O’Neal baseball great. I feel confident that we will accomplish the goals set for our baseball program both on and off the field. It's a great time to be part of O’Neal and the athletics program. The future of our program is very promising."

O’Neal Athletic Director James Franklin is excited about Norris’ potential impact at O’Neal. “We are extremely fortunate Coach Norris is joining our school. Brian’s leadership and demeanor will add a great deal to our athletics at O’Neal. His knowledge of the game and coaching style will fit well with our goals to develop our baseball program into a successful team and a team that strives to be the best in character, leadership and in the community! We are thrilled he is joining us.”
