Varsity Girls Golf and Varsity Cross Country head to states!
Middle School & Varsity Cross Country
On Thursday, October 10th, the varsity cross country team competed at the Tri Tac Conference Championship. It was a beautiful fall day full of camaraderie and hard work. Every runner on the team improved from the last time the team ran the hilly and technical Carolina Friends 5k course. Molly Kuzma is the Tri Tac 2019 individual champion and the team looks forward to capping the season next Friday at the state championship meet.
The middle school team concluded their season with an excellent showing at the last regular season Moore County meet on Tuesday. They posted their lowest score against large public school teams with a 10th place finish in Corbin Week, 23rd in Gunnar Adams. Matthew Fisher, Will Huntley, and Nathan Reifenstahl rounded out the scoring top 5. The boys beat St. John Paul and tied North Moore.

O'Neal played a fantastic championship game on October 10th to defeat St. John Paul 1-0 and repeat as SEMSAC Champions. After O'Neal moved the ball into St. John Paul's half early in the game, Parker Anderson fought through two different challenges in front of the goal to give the Falcons the early lead, one that they would never relinquish. The entire team was quick to 50-50 balls and held St. John Paul to mostly shots from distance. Spencer Lincicome came up big in goal for O'Neal, confidently handling a dozen shots and helping to anchor O'Neal's defensive effort. It was a great overall performance that showcased how hard the boys had worked this season and their terrific progress.

NCISAA 2A State Playoff
vs. Burlington Christian Academy Tuesday, October 15th
O'Neal 1 (25 -16)
Burlington Christian Academy 3 (26-24; 25-20; 25-20)
Lady Falcons traveled to Burlington Christian Academy Tuesday, October 15th for the first round of playoffs. Having split conference season matches (1 v 1), we knew BCA to be a solid team, yet also one we could beat. Our girls came out strong, winning easily the first set of the match 25-16. The next three proved more challenging, as we found ourselves either neck and neck, or digging ourselves out of a deficit. One such deficit was coming back from a score of 1-8 due to BCA's struggle receiving our fast, hard serves. Our ladies posses many strengths, one being not giving up, fighting every point. We had strong serves and powerful hits when we could pull off an attack. Perhaps too many free-balls in which BCA could counterattack easily. Good coverage of the court, while sometimes struggling with court communication. When you have a team of 9 players vs.teams of 13-15, at some point exhaustion playing 5 sets takes over. Overall, we are proud of this fine group of young ladies and the hard competition faced throughout the entire season. Many BIG moments to be PROUD of! Several personal accomplishments/goals to CELEBRATE! Well done Rachel, Haley, Emily, Holly, Mikaila, Kayla, Taylor, Grace and Brooklyn. It was an honor to coach you from Open Gyms last Spring to our very last game this past Tuesday. Thank YOU for a FUN, rewarding volleyball season! We wish Burlington Christian Academy, as well as others from our 2A Conference (Carolina Friends School and Trinity of Durham/Chapel Hill) the very BEST in States!
