O'Neal Wins Hess S.T.E.M. Grant

The O'Neal School was selected as one out of only 1,000 schools nationwide as a recipient of the 2020 HESS S.T.E.M. kit. The kit, which will be available for faculty checkout from the Falcon Lab, contains lessons that explore applied math and science principles that first responders experience daily.

The complimentary kit contains twelve ambulances and rescue vehicles to be used in conjunction with curriculum lessons and activities developed by Baylor College of Medicine Center for Educational Outreach. The kits were developed to improve science, teaching, and learning, and can be used with both the lower school and middle school students. Lessons cover everything from inclined planes, and capacity to force, motion, friction, and energy.

"We are honored to be recipients of this exciting award and look forward to using them in classrooms with our students!" exclaims Education Technology Specialist Kari Smith. She is also the writer for this grant.
