Alexander Gloger ’83 lives in Berlin and is a major stake holder and CEO of a textile company. Alex graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in literature. After getting his degree, he spent a semester at the Université de Grenoble as an exchange student. From France, he went to work for a textile company in Germany as an apprentice. He then enrolled in the Université Paris – Sorbonne for a semester. From Paris he went to Indiana University in Bloomington and got a master’s degree in comparative literature. From Bloomington he went to Tianjin, China as an employee of the Chinese government teaching English, German and literature for a year. He then enrolled in the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona where he finished his MIM (master of international management) in the fall of 1992.
His plan was to work for a textile company in Germany for a maximum of two years and move back to the States; however, in 1994, the production side of the company closed and a wholesale side of the organization was saved and is the company that he currently works for. Alex met his wife, Cindy, at Thunderbird and they have two sons, Christopher (19) and Nicholas (17).
