O’Neal’s Colthart Signs with Hood Blazers

O’Neal senior Sarah Colthart has committed to Hood College to play for the Blazers’ women’s basketball team.
Colthart, who joined The O’Neal School this year after previously attending Damien Manorial High School in Hawaii and Osan American High School in South Korea, was a three- sport athlete and captain of the Varsity Girl’s basketball and soccer teams. As a starting member on all three teams, Sarah quickly made a lasting impression on Falcon sports. “Sarah has been a strong presence within our athletic programs this year,” shared James Franklin, Athletic Director. “She’s played three sports and hardly taken a day off. She’s helped set a tone that our athletes will follow, that of dedication, perseverance and spirit.”

As a senior, she built on her previous athletic accolades, earning EPIC All- Conference honors and coach’s awards in both volleyball and basketball. “Sarah is every coach’s dream player,” said Lulu Brase, Varsity Girl’s basketball coach. “She is a leader in every facet on and off the court.  She has helped take our basketball program to a new level this season. I’m excited for Sarah to continue her basketball career at Hood, and look forward to her continued successes on and off the basketball court.”

Hood College is located in Fredrick, Maryland, and is a NCAA Division III member competing in the Middle Atlantic Conference. This season the Blazers have continued their steady improvement under the leadership of fifth year Head Coach, Jack Mehl, finishing with a 5-20, 1-15 record.

Receiving the Trailblazer Scholarship from Hood, Sarah plans to study nursing and participate in the ROTC program, while continuing her successful basketball career.
