Director of Alumni Relations Blanche Hancock hosted “Snacks for Seniors” on Wednesday where, in addition to serving ice cream to the students, she invited Katie Maness ’09 to speak to the students about her college experience.

Head of School John Elmore started the session with a quick message to make the most of spending time with family during these last months at home before going to college.

Katie Maness is a court advocate at Friend to Friend in Carthage. Friend to Friend is a non-profit organization that offers to help those affected by interpersonal violence, such as domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking and unhealthy relationships. Katie graduated from NC State University with a BA in psychology and a BA in communication. She later received her Masters of Social Work at University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Students asked questions about time management, making friends, grades, graduate school and more.

The session ended with a special gift to seniors.
