Dedications to Mrs. Phillips

The Blackbird’s Eye, O’Neal’s annual literary magazine and The Talon, O’Neal’s yearbook was dedicated to Lower School Division Assistant Suzanne Phillips this year.

Written by O’Neal senior and member of the Blackbird’s Eye editorial staff, Mary McMurray, its dedication is as follows:

This year’s “Blackbird’s Eye” literary magazine is dedicated to Suzanne Phillips. Before coming to The O’Neal School, Mrs. Phillips was a nun with Holy Cross and a longtime elementary school teacher. Starting in 2002, she worked as a substitute teacher at O’Neal and then became the administrative assistant for the Lower School in 2004. She has worked at O’Neal for seventeen years and has never failed to offer a smile to anyone who walks into the Lower School. She is always ready to talk, offer advice, or even give a scented sticker to anyone who stops by her desk. She takes the time to make everyone feel special, especially those who come back to visit her after moving on to Middle School and even the High School. With this dedication we say thank you, Mrs. Phillips, for your hard work and devotion to O’Neal.

Written by yearbook staff member freshman Jamie Wenzel:

When the question of dedication arose in class, many names came to our minds. In the end, we decided to choose a person previously unrecognized by the O’Neal yearbook, a person who acts as the happy and friendly face of the school to all she encounters. The yearbook staff is proud to dedicate this year’s yearbook to Suzanne Phillips.

Congratulations to Mrs. Phillips for two very deserving dedications.
