O'Neal Holds Its Annual Military Appreciation Assembly and Breakfast

O'Neal hosted its annual Military Appreciation Assembly and Breakfast on Monday, November 12th. Families of active military and veterans joined the school community in the Hannah Center Gym for the Pledge of Allegiance led by fourth grade students, a presentation on Flanders Field by the Upper School USO, and special music from the Middle School Chorus.

US Airforce Chief Master Sergeant Charlie McHarney was the guest speaker.  Chief McHarney is a Combat Controller and Group Superintendent of the 724th Special Tactics Group, Pope Field, North Carolina. He is also the father of O'Neal Falcons Caelan, Callie and Conlyn. Chief McHarney advised the students to serve something that is bigger than oneself and to never forget those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of your own well-being.

Following tradition, all military families gathered on the gym floor for the national anthem, performed by the Upper School chorus.

Families then proceeded to Bradshaw Hall for a great breakfast. Many thanks to Pete's Restaurant and the Parents' Association for an outstanding breakfast event.
