Jordyn Roark Speaks to Middle School about the Homeless
Wednesday, February 13th, Social Worker Jordyn Roark was the guest speak at O'Neal's Middle School Morning Meeting. She spoke to the students about the definition of "homeless" and how natural disasters and fires are often the cause for a family to be displaced. She emphasized how a homeless student should not be treated or perceived differently than other students.
Jordyn Roark is a social worker and advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness. She currently serves as the Housing Navigator for Back@Home in Robeson County where she assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness with case management and financial assistance. Outside of the office, Jordyn travels the country throughout the year giving keynotes and trainings, where she uses her own story of youth and young adult homelessness to educate audiences on the barriers that students experiencing homelessness face in accessing higher education.
