Middle School Science Olympiad Places 4th at Regionals

The Middle School Science Olympiad team traveled to Fayetteville Community College on Saturday, February 23rd to compete in the Fayetteville regional tournament where O’Neal placed fourth marking the sixth consecutive year to bring home a trophy from regional competition. In turn, also for the sixth consecutive year, six O’Neal team members have qualified for state competition in April.
 
These team members are Lauren Kuhn and John Shepherd for Anatomy and Physiology, Macy Cheek and Lauren Kuhn for Roller Coaster, Kaleigh O’Leary for Boomilever also Penn Morris and Jake Shepherd for Elastic Launch Glider.
 
Additional medals were earned by the following students: Keven Klenzak and Lauren Kuhn – 2nd place for Herpetology, Luca Pusser and Nicole Kelley – 3rd place for Heredity, Nathan and Meghan Briannas – 5th place for Thermodynamics AND Amazing Mechatronics.
 
The entire team worked tirelessly for months leading up to this highly competitive tournament,” says Coach Boyd Grayson. “A strong foundation is in place including a large group of highly motivated 5th and 6th graders signaling that O'Neal will continue in its winning tradition for years to come!”
