Odyssey of the Mind Team Places 4th

O’Neal’s Division 1 Odyssey of the Mind team participated in the Eastern NC Regional OM Tournament on March 2nd at North Carolina Central University. The team, comprised of 4th and 5th grade students, placed 4th out of 15 teams in the “problem” category.

Students were tasked with building a 15 gram balsa wood structure and a device to launch the structure over certain distances and height for points.   The structure then had to be tested for how much weight it could hold.   Students were also challenged with creating a dramatic presentation that met specified style requirements—all in an 8-minute presentation!

“I am so proud for the incredible work of our students and am grateful for the support from our O’Neal community,” says team adviser Lindsey Imbs.

Team members are: Trevor Franklin, Lilah Smith, Griffin Smith, Matthew Fisher, Jacob Sager, Katy Carran and Ryan Imbs.
