Spring Forward!

James Franklin - Director of Athletics and Transportation Services
The spring season gets started!
Middle School Baseball
The middle school baseball team dropped a hard fought contest to Village Christian Academy on Monday. Will Slagle was the leading hitter for the Falcons and Jake Shepherd pitched 3 and one-third innings. The Falcons return to action Monday at home against Northwood Temple.

Middle School Girls Soccer
The middle school soccer team played in their first game on Thursday, battling to a 1-1 tie with St. John Paul after regulation, and eventually falling in overtime.  The Falcons played very well as a team, preventing St. John Paul from creating many dangerous opportunities, and consistently moving the ball forward into St. John Paul’s 18-yard box.  It was a fantastic first performance, and O’Neal will look to build on it Monday against Northwood Temple at home.

Varsity Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team had a good week of practice and was ready for the match on Thursday. Unfortunately, the rain kept us from playing, but we will even more ready for our first match of the season.

Varsity Track & Field
Thursday, 5 March vs. Ravenscroft, St. Mary’s, Trinity Academy of Raleigh @ Ravenscroft School

This year’s 51-person track team season has been underway for almost two weeks and the effort, positivity, and motivation have been inspiring to say the very least.  Although this team has successfully navigated some non-cooperative North Carolina weather and working tirelessly through exams, their commitment to better themselves every day, in the classroom, performance room, and practices has been exciting to see.  In our first days of practice, the team was challenged with identifying and defining what our team's norms’ would be.  Our first team norm is Grit and they have already proven that they’ve got what it takes to continue to display grit when faced with adversity.  This norm will continue as we move into our very first meet this Thursday, 12 March against Ravenscroft, St. Mary’s, and Trinity Academy of Raleigh @ Ravenscroft School.  Please come and watch this team perform in the first meet of the season.

Upcoming meets and locations
5 March, Ravenscroft School, Raleigh
19 March, North Moore School, Robbins

From the Athletic Director:
Our varsity girls soccer team, our boys golfer and middle school golf team all continue to prepare for the official start of their seasons. They do not have results to report yet. We continue to be impressed by their dedication and commitment.
