O'Neal Places Runner Up in Elementary Battle of the Books

O’Neal’s Elementary Battle of the Books team traveled to Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point on Wednesday, March 16th to compete in the Region 9 District Competition for Elementary Battle of the Books. In preparation for the competition, each student read 15 books. At the competition the team answered questions from the books they read in a quiz bowl style competition.   O’Neal was among 4 other schools competing and placed second.
 
Team members are 4th graders - Isla Haughey, Luke Valkovics, Tyler Kuhn, Abrielle Martin, Ava Bozovich and Adalyn Pohlmeyer and 5th graders - Adrian Rodriguez and Tanner Kennedy.

Schools competing were Wesleyan Christian Academy, High Point; Asheville Christian Academy, Greensboro Day School, St. Pius X Catholic School, Greensboro.

“They've inspired many other students in their grade to read these great books and to enjoy the power of reading for fun!” remarks Team Coach Sally Rollinson.

The North Carolina Battle of the Books is coordinated by the North Carolina School Library Media Association.
