Varsity Boys Golf is Back-to-Back Conference Champs

The O'Neal School Varsity Boys Golf Team won the Tri-TAC Conference championship for the second year in a row Monday, April 25th at Mid South Club in impressive fashion.

O'Neal won the 18 hole match by seventeen strokes and all five of the team's golfers were named to the All-Conference team.  Andrew Hobbs led the team in scoring with a solid round of 75 accompanied by Pete Myers and Max Martin both shooting 79.  Depth has been the key for O'Neal this year as they've posted a 10-1 match record with 4 different golfers on the team earning medalist honors in a match.  It is worth mentioning that four of the five O'Neal golfers are in the eighth grade and the other is only a sophomore.

Second year Coach Jon Halloran had this to say about his team "These young men have earned their success.  It takes a lot for an eighth grader to step in and compete against these high school guys, but they haven't backed away from the challenge.  They've worked really hard and I'm glad they're seeing some results."

The boys won't celebrate long as there is more work to do.  The season continues for the team as they’ve earned their way to the state qualifier at Grandover Resort on May 9th.
