Falcons Sweep SEMSAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships

After multiple years of runner up finishes, the Middle School Girls Soccer Team left no doubt this season who the top team in the SEMSAC was on their way to winning both the SEMSAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships!
“These ladies truly committed to the process,” shared Head Coaches Dave Williamson and Lulu Brase. “From the start to the end of the season, each player grew tremendously both individually and as a unit. Most importantly, they discovered that as a group they have quite a superpower – relentless energy and positivity!”

After going undefeated in the regular season, the Falcons claimed the #1 seed in the SEMSAC tournament and hosted #4 seed Fayetteville Christian on Monday afternoon. A slow start saw both teams lock in defensively. At the halfway point of the first half, the Falcons broke through for the first of their six goals, and never looked back. Allie Webb led the offensive attack totaling three assists in the first half and saw teammates Kennedy Moore (x2 goals), Gianna Maheu (x3 goals), and Emeli Michael tally goals on the afternoon. The defensive line of Chesley Lucas, Charlie McGill, Livi Afable, Sydney Davis and Lindsey Havenstein recorded their 9th shutout on the season.

A quick turnaround saw the Falcons host #2 SJP II for the SEMSAC Tournament on Tuesday afternoon in front of a full sideline of parents and students. A beautiful Spring afternoon saw both teams show nerves early one resulting to a hectic and choppy style of play. The Falcons saw a few opportunities on goal but couldn’t quite break through. With 12 minutes left in the first half, Kennedy Moore showed her fierce determination, weaving through defenders on the way to knocking home the first Falcon goal of the afternoon. Moments later, the Falcons earned a corner kick. Gianna Maheu made a beautifully timed run stepping right in front of the SJP II keeper to head home the cross from Allie Webb to tally the Falcon’s second goal. The tremendous header sent cheers ringing across the Falcon sidelines.

The Falcons held strong down the final stretch as the defensive line and goalkeeper, Lindsey Havenstein once again fended off numerous SJP II attack. A clean sheet saw them tally their 10th game (6th in a row) without giving up a goal.

As the buzzer sounded cheers, high fives and hugs were seen across the field as the Falcon celebrated a feat that hasn’t happened on the Middle School Girls Soccer side in recent memory – an undefeated conference championship season!

The Falcons finished the 2022 Spring Season with an overall record of 12-0-3 and 11-0 in SEMSAC Conference play. They scored 55 goals this season and recorded 10 shutouts as a team. “Beyond their records and success,” share Coach Williamson and Brase, “the girls grew together as a family and built memories that will last them a lifetime. That’s what its all about and we couldn’t be prouder of this group of young ladies and all they accomplished this season.”
