Falcons Win Second Straight State Title; Lapple the Medalist
Looking to repeat as N.C. Independent School Athletic Association state girls golf champions, The O’Neal girls golf team relied on its upperclassmen talent at Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro Monday.
Seniors Alexsandra Lapple and Maya Beasley both posted under-par rounds in the 18-hole championship to help the Falcons win their second title in as many years.

“It was a very good year for the girls,” O’Neal coach John Casson said, “and we have a strong pipeline for next year.”

Lapple was the state individual champion with her 3-under-par 69 to lead the Falcons, and Beasley finished at 1-under-par 71 to take third.

Freshman Rachel Joyce and junior Lauren Kuhn finished each of their rounds at 2 over.

Competing as individuals in the event, Mary Earhart finished in a tie for 10th at 5 over, Sofi Afable and Audrey Kim both tied for 19th at 12 over and Brooke Greenblatt finished in 25th at 20 over.
