6th Grade Class Trip to Camp Seafarer

Matt McMurray
Early Tuesday morning, September 20th,  31 members of the sixth grade class boarded a coach bus bound for Camp Seafarer, a beautiful YMCA campus in Arapahoe, NC.

Our highly anticipated class trip had finally come, and the collective experience was nothing short of incredible. With so many new students joining the sixth grade each year, this class trip truly serves as a unifying experience that not only builds new relationships, but strengthens existing ones. From the moment we arrived and got settled in our cabins, the excitement and anticipation exuded by the students was palpable. Tucked away and situated against a picturesque Neuse River, the campgrounds had everything the young heart could hope for. Whether it was the water slides, zip lines, rope swings, fishing, arts and crafts, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or boat rides, there was something for everyone. There were teambuilding activities, engaging competitions, and several structured activities, all designed with the end goal of class unity. The effectiveness of these exercises could be seen on the last night when the class had the chance to go on a night hike beneath a beautiful, star-filled sky. After navigating through the wooded trail, the students reached the end and sat shoulder to shoulder around a campfire, the light from the flames dancing across their smiling faces as they made s’mores. Lasting memories were made at camp this year and has set the tone for a great school year.
