Pave the Patio

Be a permanent part of O’Neal’s legacy and history by joining the Pave the Patio campaign! Purchase a brick today and add your personal touch to the completion of this integral part of O’Neal’s beautiful campus.

Here’s the story…

A Senior Class Gift

As their senior gift, the Class of 1986 generously donated their time, energy, and resources to brick the outside space connecting Tate Gym and Taws Hall looking over O’Neal’s new central campus. This space is called the 1986 Patio

A Place for Middle School
The senior students did a great job with what they had. In fact, this patio is 37 years old and presently is used daily by O’Neal Middle School students during their breaks and after lunch recess. An occasional class science experiment or two may also be seen.

Celebrating 50 Years
In January of 1974, the ground was broken on the first brick-and-mortar buildings on campus - Tate Gymnasium and Taws Hall.  Students first occupied Taws Hall in September of the same year. As the school buildings close in on their fifty years, we continue to honor their service to the hundreds of students who have thrived in their classrooms as well as the pool and gymnasium. Their bricks and mortar continue to withstand the test of time.

Class of 1986 Paves the Way!
As a part of the Growing Strong Capital Campaign, the Class of 1986 has collectively made a very generous donation to kick off this project. The donations will be used to purchase and install a beautiful shade structure to transform this space into a shaded area for outdoor learning, lunch gatherings, and social activities.

Please Join Us
Everyone in the O’Neal community, past and present, is invited to help Pave the Patio to pave the way for a more beautiful and functional O’Neal. The existing bricks laid by the Class of 1986 will be mixed in with your donated bricks to make a beautiful outdoor space for students as well as the rest of the O’Neal community.

As we remember the past, enjoy the present, and embrace the future, the Class of 1986 thanks you in advance for helping us pave the way for O'Neal students to come. We appreciate your passion for bringing your memories to this patio. O’Neal is our gateway to success!
