Hoop Glider Olympics

Ashley Head’s third grade class held “Hoop Glider" Olympics recently. The winners were: Katy Carran – 1st Place, Grayson Logan, - 2nd Place and Liam Mansker – 3rd Place.

A hoop glider is a homemade paper aircraft with curved surfaces on top of the glider that help generate lift. An aerodynamic shape reduces drag. Gravity pulls the glider toward the ground and one’s arm provides thrust! It therefore uses the 4 forces of flight to fly, much like a paper airplane.
