O’Neal @ TYGA’s NC High School Invitational
The O’Neal Falcons Varsity Boys Golf team wrapped up their third and final Carolinas Golf Association team event of the season at the prestigious North Carolina High School Invitational, held April 29 at Treyburn Country Club in Durham. The event featured 17 strong teams from across the state, with each team’s top four scores contributing to the final total.

O’Neal finished 12th overall with a team score of 320. Leading the Falcons was Dylan Wolfe, who shot a steady two-over-par 74 (37-37), earning a tie for 18th individually. Andrew Hobbs followed closely with a 75 (37-38), tying for 25th. Zeyu Zhao posted a solid 81 (40-41), and Jack Manning rounded out the scoring with a 90 (47-43).

Broughton High School claimed the team title with an impressive 279 total, while medalist honors were shared by Dylan Takenaga (Sandhills Highlanders) and William Carr (Broughton), who each fired a four-under-par 68.

The Falcons demonstrated growth and consistency throughout the CGA series, and their performance at Treyburn reflects the promise and depth of this young squad.

Middle School Golf:
O’Neal vs St Mary Magdalene Catholic School: FINAL 216-249, W
The Falcon golfers have wrapped up their impressive golf season with a decisive victory against Saint Mary Magdalene on Tuesday, April 29th at Longleaf Country Club. The Falcons were led by Luke Valkovics, who was locked in and stuck a 60-yard shot 4 feet from the pin to birdie hole 7. Luke finished the day shooting a 1-under, 36. Ford Kuester and Will Simmons provided the victory insurance as well, with the former carrying the trees on hole 5 to land on the green in two before birdying and finishing the day with a respectable 42. Will Simmons played consistently all day, parring holes 1, 2, 5, and 8 while finishing the day with a personal best, 42. Overall, the Falcon Golfers finished their season with a 5-1 record, solidifying their place as a powerhouse in Moore County and giving the Falcon golf program a bright future in the years ahead!

Varsity Girls Soccer:
O’Neal vs. Village Christian Academy: FINAL 8-0, W
The O’Neal Falcons Varsity Girls Soccer team delivered a commanding 8-0 win over Village Christian Academy in the Sandhills Athletic Conference Semi-Finals. From the opening whistle, the Falcons controlled possession and tempo, showcasing their depth and teamwork.

The scoring began in the 12th minute when Charli Bunder sent a soaring free kick from near midfield just over the keeper’s reach. Six minutes later, Caroline Lee drove down the right wing and found Haddie Habets at the top of the 18, who finished with a low strike for the second goal. Bunder then delivered a perfect corner that Kennedi Hamner headed into the net, followed by a left-footed goal from Joelle Cole after a lead pass from Jordin Reed.

Leading 4-0 at the half, the Falcons maintained their intensity. Sydney Davis added two second-half goals—one from distance and another off a Bunder corner. Reed scored again after a clean give-and-go with Davis, and Habets capped the scoring by threading a through ball to Keelie Bosworth, who finished confidently.
It was a full-team effort from start to finish. The Falcons advance to the SAC Championship tonight Friday May 2nd at Fayetteville Christian School at 6PM with strong momentum and focus.

Middle School Girls Soccer:
O’Neal vs Village Christian Academy: FINAL 2-0, W
In the SAC Semi-Finals, the O’Neal Falcons delivered a stunning 2-0 victory over previously undefeated Village Christian Academy. Facing a tough opponent on the road, the Falcons showed heart, hustle, and technical excellence from the first whistle to the final horn. Every player rose to the challenge, executing the game plan with discipline and intensity. It was a statement win and earned the Falcons a well-deserved spot in the SAC Championship.

O’Neal vs Northwood Temple: FINAL 0, L-3
The championship game was one to remember. O’Neal controlled much of the match, applying pressure and creating scoring chances. Despite the final scoreline, the game was far more competitive than it suggests. Fatigue and challenging field conditions played a role in the final minutes, but the Falcons never backed down.

Securing second place in the conference is a tremendous accomplishment. Coaches I Iz and Coach Worley dedicated themselves to guiding the young eyasses, helping them grow into Falcons capable of soaring to new heights.

Kaiden Taveras went 2-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Oliver Gabor led the team with 3 RBIs with great discipline at the plate, earning 2 walks as well. Liam Enslin had a Gold Glove performance at 2nd base for the Falcon defense. Enslin, Andrew Pavlovich, and Jake Shepherd also contributed to the offense with hits of their own.

Shepherd and Joey Wade combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound and only 4 walks through 6 innings. The pitching duo looks ready to take on the next challenge in the state playoffs next week. Next game is TBD as the State Playoff schedule comes out Sunday night. Be sure to cheer on your O'Neal Falcons next week!

Varsity Boys Tennis
O’Neal vs Faith Christian: FINAL 4-5, L
On Monday, April 28, the Falcons fought hard but ultimately dropped a close match to Faith Christian. Doubles victories came from the pairings of Ethan Kim/Noah Bass and Joseph Lucas/Chris Walters. Chris Walters and Joseph Lucas also earned individual wins in singles, making them double winners on the day. The team now looks ahead to the first round of the state tournament, most likely on May 6th. The brackets come out on Sunday 5/4 to determine the Falcons opponent and location.

Varsity Track & Field:
The Falcons Track & Field team wrapped up their regular season with a bang at their final meet on April 30th. After weeks of hard work, sweat, and sunshine, all that dedication came to life on the track and in the field.
Even with temperatures soaring into the 90s, the Falcons stayed cool under pressure and turned up the heat with the competition. One of the biggest highlights of the day came from the middle school 4x800m relay team, who crushed their season best by over 90 seconds — a jaw-dropping improvement that had coaches and teammates buzzing. Gavin Rabon also made headlines by breaking his own school record in the discus with an incredible throw of 131 feet, 8 inches.

Adding to the list of achievements the boys' team tied for third place out of nine teams, a fantastic result and a strong way to wrap up the regular season. This year has been truly special. Many of our athletes didn’t just set a personal record once — they improved every single time they stepped into competition. The energy, heart, and hustle this group brings is something to be proud of.

With the regular season behind them, the Falcons are focused and fired up for the state meet ahead!
