Annual Pumpkin Chunkin Held

The O’Neal physics students participated in the annual Pumpkin Chunkin on Friday, November 5th.
The Pumpkin Chunkin project is designed to give students experience with the engineering process: plan, build, test, and modify. They can choose to build a catapult, slingshot, or trebuchet. On the day of the launch, students were told that their target was a launch distance of 11 m. They were to use their test logs to aid them in hitting the target. It they were able to hit 11m, they would earn a bonus point on the project. They were also required to give a presentation explaining how their device works from a physics standpoint.
