Ferrerio Chairs State Committee for SACAC

Nominated by her college counseling colleague from Durham Academy, O’Neal’s Director of College Counseling Renee Ferrerio has accepted the volunteer position as chair of the State and Area Initiatives Committee for North Carolina. The State and Area Initiatives Committee is a part of the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) and serves to connect with members of the SACAC on a state level through its state-specific subcommittees, while offering networking and access to resources and professional development for those in the field of admissions, college, and school counseling. 

In this position, Ms. Ferrerio is responsible for facilitating a state meeting at the SACAC Annual Conference and organizing at least one additional meeting within the year. 

Ms. Ferrerio is entering her seventh year as O’Neal’s director of college counseling. Prior to O’Neal, she spent 20 years as a school counselor in the Fulton County School System near Atlanta. She has degrees from Florida State University & Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in school counseling from Georgia State University, and an educational specialist in leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. During her journey through a large public school system, she found her passion for college counseling. Renee participates in NACAC and SACAC, as well as several other professional organizations. 

SACAC is a nonprofit, professional association, and chartered affiliate of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). The SACAC region includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee as well as the Caribbean.
