A Summer Visit from Spain

This summer O'Neal Upper School student, Alex Dymond, and Middle School student Reed Taws hosted two Spanish students for a month. International friendships are treasures and these four students quickly become pals. Juan and Alberto came to North Carolina from northwestern Spain, A Coruña. They enjoyed a true southern summer full of sweet tea, pools, golf, lakes, and trips to the beach.
Special events included flying in the Taws' plane, a day at Kings Dominion, and a trip to Washington, DC with Señora Weeks. The foursome enjoyed learning about each other and plan to keep in touch via social media. While the boys were here they attended the O'Neal basketball camp, and reported that it was a highlight of their trip. O'Neal students and their families are very hospitable and adventurous. Life-changing and enriching experiences like hosting international students are among the many things that make this community special!
