Students Participate in Mother Bear Project

Mrs. Duffy's kindergarten students were excited to give their bears a hug before their journey to Africa.

O’Neal parent Marcie Moses and her mother are participating in the Mother Bear Project and have included her son Tyler’s kindergarten class in the project. The activity involves making Teddy Bears (these are crocheted) that each of Mrs. Duffy’s kindergarten students are “giving” to a child in Africa who is directly affected by HIV/AIDs. Mrs. Moses visited the class early on and explained the project and gave each of the students a tag for them to write out their first names. She returned with the finished bears and tag attached. Each of the students got to hug their bear and give them special wishes before the bear was sent on its way to Africa. Once the bears are received, it is hoped that the kindergarten class will receive photos of the African children with the gifted bears.
