O’Neal’s SAT/ACT Prep Classes Show Positive Results

In 2017 O’Neal started to offer the highly regarded Princeton Review Prep Courses for The American College Test (ACT) and the College Board’s Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – standardized tests often required for the college application process. A comparison of the diagnostic tests taken prior to starting each course and the actual test results show positive results for the program.

Thirteen sophomores and juniors enrolled in The Princeton Review Spring & Summer ACT Prep Course last year. Student composites were measured before, during and after the test.  Student composite score improvements ranged from an increase of 1 point to 11 points with an average improvement of exactly 5 full composite points with all students showing improved results.

Fourteen sophomores and juniors enrolled in The Princeton Review Fall SAT Prep Course last year in preparation for the December 2017 SAT. Student score improvement from the pre-course diagnostic test and the actual test varied from 50 to 160 points with an average increase of +91.43 points.

O’Neal Upper School Spanish and Drama teacher, Michael Norman is the Princeton Review certified instructor.  He states,"The curriculum that we cover involves equipping students with many different strategies to approach the wide array of question types on all sections of these tests and mastering these strategies takes practice. We then drill and practice those strategies through homework assignments and ultimately test and refine their use through diagnostic testing throughout the course.  I have been pleasantly surprised to see just how beneficial this course has been and the extent to which students have been able to raise their scores."

O’Neal offers the only face to face Princeton Review prep courses in the Sandhills area for its students as well as members of the community. Comprised of 25 hours of instruction, an evening course offering is always available when the program is scheduled.

The Princeton Review is a college admissions services company that, for more than 30 years, has offered test-taking strategies to help students achieve a better score.
