Lower School Learns of Holidays Around the World

The O’Neal Lower School celebrated Holidays Around the World on Thursday, February 1st. Fourth and fifth grade students prepared lessons to teach the first, second and third grade students about 12 different holidays around the world. The holidays were Tu B’Shvat, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, May Day, Basanth, Songkran, Bastille Day, Cinco de Maya, Midsummer Day and O’Bon.

Students rotated classrooms for each holiday. Fourth and fifth grade students gave PowerPoint presentations, followed by making a craft unique to the holiday and/or tasting food that is normally served during that holiday.
