vs. Crain’s Creek Tuesday-November 19
The O'Neal School 25 Crain’s Creek 39
Our Lady Falcons hosted Crain’s Creek for a non-conference matchup on November 19th. After a back and forth scoring affair for most of the game, Crain’s Creek pulled away late in the fourth quarter for a double digit win. Despite coming up short on the scoreboard, our Lady Falcons played with incredible intensity against a very physical opponent in a hard fought game. All players who dressed for the game saw game action. Ashanti Fox led all scorers with 17 points while Hannah Saye added 8 points.
The Lady Falcons return to action after the Thanksgiving break.
Middle School Boys Basketball
The MS Boys Basketball team enjoyed a successful week. The most impressive attribute our team demonstrates is – we work hard at doing the little things well. Our focus on fundamental development is taking hold with all players on the team. We are seeing significant improvements from all the boys. They are building in all the areas of the game and that is resulting in wins on the court. After a rigorous pre-season, we are seeing their work pay dividends in the games we compete in.
We are impressed with their poise, their decision making and their commitment to play for one another. In both of our games this week, we demonstrated all the things that are necessary to build high performing student-athletes and teams. In our game during the early part of the week, we adapted to playing a public school (4 times our size in population), Crain’s Creek Middle School. In a close encounter, our practice preparation helped us create crucial turnovers, make significant stops and execute offensively. Our conference game of the week, vs. perennial SEMSAC title contenders Village Christian Academy, was a real measuring stick for how far we have come as a program. We raced out to a comprehensive lead eventually earned an important victory.
Both our wins this week are a result of the efforts of all 18 of our student-athletes. We are proud of our entire squad. We will keep expecting a lot from the boys, we will raise the standards as we work towards our team’s goals for the season. In the end, the teams that enjoy the ultimate success, are the teams that consistently focus on developing winning habits – that’s O’Neal – Go Falcons!

A quick start had both teams scrapping for points and showing the physical styles of play that brought them both success last year. Behind strong offensive rebounding and timely stops, the Falcons pulled ahead 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. Utilizing their up-tempo style of play, matched with an aggressive 1-3-1 zone the Falcons extended the lead to 35-18 by halftime. The Falcons took on Wayne Country Day School on Friday evening (11/22) and met an opponent that is one of the best in the state and came out with a loss 61-20.
