I am pleased to announce that O’Neal has joined a nationwide consortium of independent schools called One Schoolhouse. Formerly, the Online School for Girls, One Schoolhouse is an NAIS school offering online courses, taught by independent school teachers who share O’Neal’s academic standards and value student-teacher relationships. In addition, the Upper School will now be able to support students admitted to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics to attend the NCSSM Online Program.
Starting in the academic year 2020-21, the partnership with One Schoolhouse will greatly expand our Upper School curriculum by offering electives like Computer Science, Latin, Business and Economics, Neuroscience and more. All courses are asynchronous but with paced assessments and guidelines throughout the semester. O’Neal students taking these courses will be given a space to work on their online courses during free periods and teacher support as needed. This personalized learning will allow O’Neal students to pursue interests or explore new academic areas. To assure that all students have access to One Schoolhouse courses, O’Neal will pay the tuition for one course for each student during the Upper School years.
For those admitted to NCSSM, The O’Neal School will work with these students to personalize their schedules to attend the Online Program. Through this program, O’Neal students can take advantage of NCSSM’s specialized courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The courses for this two-year honors program are free and woven into the student’s weekly O’Neal schedule.
The O'Neal School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
