Falcons Take Flight: Hawk Manor Falconry Visit & Blue vs. White Kickoff

O’Neal students returned from the Labor Day holiday to a thrilling visit from Hawk Manor Falconry (www.hawkmanorfalconry.net), where they encountered a hawk, an owl, and—most fittingly—a falcon. The live demonstration captivated students from PreK3 through Grade 12, offering an educational and exciting look into the world of birds of prey.
The event also served as the launch of this year’s all-school “Blue vs. White” Competition, a beloved tradition that builds school spirit and camaraderie. Students are divided into two teams named after falcon breeds native to the Sandhills and Piedmont regions: Kestrel and Merlin. A third, impartial team—Peregrine—will serve in a neutral role throughout the year.

Throughout the school year, students will participate in challenges to earn points for their teams. The team with the highest score will be crowned the winner at the end of the year. With the energy sparked by the falconry visit and the kickoff of the competition, the Falcons are soaring into a year of fun, teamwork, and character-building.
