The goal of the O'Neal School Library is to provide resources and assistance for students, faculty, administrators, and staff which support the school mission statement and curriculum. All members of the O'Neal community are welcome to use the library.
The library is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 6:00 during the school year and on prearranged days during the summer.
All students, faculty, administrators, and staff may check out library materials using the library's Follett Destiny Circulation System. For Middle and Upper School students, faculty, administrators, and staff, there is no limit to the numbers of materials checked out. Generally, Lower School students may check out one book per week during library visits. All circulating materials are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed twice. Reference materials may not be checked out. DVDs, newspapers, and magazines may only be checked out by faculty.
Class visits to the library are generally arranged by teachers, either on a regular basis or as needed. Occasionally, faculty members will request that library materials on a particular subject be made available for a period of time in classrooms. Students are welcome to use the library at any time the library is open.
The library's electronic resources are available online from the school webpage making them available from any computer on campus and at home. The library online catalog allows users to search materials in the library collection. The subscription EBSCOhost database provides online access to full-text articles from hundreds of magazines, professional journals, and newspapers dating back as far as 1975. An EBSCO login and password are needed to access the database.
The library has 18 computers for student use as well as a printer. There is password protected wireless Internet Access available for those students who bring their own devices. All students are expected to abide by the school’s Acceptable Use Policy.
