6- Peat: Falcons Crowned Regular Season and Tournament Champions

The Falcons finished another undefeated conference season capped off with a regular season and tournament championship last week. The streak, dating back to the 2017-2018 season, now extends to 52 regular season conference victories (64 total including tournament games) since the Falcons have lost in conference play.
“This is a true testament to the daily dedication of these young ladies,” shares Coach Lulu Brase. “Putting together this long a string of conference championships doesn’t happen by chance. These girls have dedicated themselves to the process and work tremendously hard to accomplish the goals they set.”

Last, Friday night, the Falcons left no doubt running away with the tournament championship 55-23 over Trinity School of Durham at Burlington Christian Academy. A quick 18-2 start saw the Falcons speed up the Lions of Trinity and create 10 of their 21-game steals in the opening minutes of the game. Defensive intensity and a balanced attack led the way on the evening as the Falcons tallied 27 points off turnovers and 22 points in transition.

“This group is truly one of a kind,” shares Coach Brase. “They enjoy their time together – always laughing or joking – and their high energy off the court has allowed them to bring a new level of intensity and enthusiasm on the court. Their love for one another has been one of our biggest strengths.”

The Falcons were led by the dynamic duo of Ashanti Fox (23 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds) and Kennedy Moore (20 points 6 steals). Joining the scoring were Reily Johnson (3 points, 6 steals), Ava Vonderkall (3 points), Tamiya Judd (2 points, 4 rebounds), Brooklyn Adams (2 points), and Kennedi Hamner (2 points).
The victory moved the Falcons to 24-2 overall heading into the NCISAA State Tournament. After receiving the #3 overall seed, the Falcons moved on to the NCISAA 2A State Semifinal game on Thursday, February 23rd at Grace Christian of Sanford.
