The O’Neal School Welcomes Brad Deifer as Head Basketball Coach

The O’Neal School is excited to announce Brad Deifer (DYE-fer) as its new Head Basketball Coach, bringing more than 20 years of experience in high school and grassroots basketball to the program.
A Philadelphia native from Allentown, Deifer developed his foundation, knowledge, and love for the game in one of the nation’s most competitive basketball regions. He began his collegiate career at Drexel University before finishing at Temple, immersing himself in a hard-nosed basketball culture that continues to shape his coaching philosophy.

After years of coaching and training players throughout the Philadelphia area, Deifer relocated to Raleigh, where he built a strong reputation as both a coach and player developer. He spent eight years at Ravenscroft School and led the WCBA 2025 travel program for multiple seasons, consistently producing winning teams and exceeding expectations.

Throughout his career, Deifer has coached and trained numerous high school and collegiate athletes, helping many successfully navigate the path to the next level. His experience across both grassroots and school-based basketball provides a comprehensive approach to building a competitive and sustainable program.
Rooted in his Philadelphia background, Deifer’s teams are known for toughness, defensive intensity, and rebounding. Equally important is his commitment to mentoring student-athletes off the court—building relationships, fostering accountability, and helping each player reach their full potential.
“We are going to build something special at The O’Neal School,” said Deifer. “The foundation is already here—from outstanding facilities to strong school support. Our goal is to match that excellence with a winning basketball program. We will always be over-prepared, play with toughness and grit, and compete for each other as we grow.”
The O’Neal community looks forward to the energy, leadership, and vision Coach Deifer brings as an exciting new chapter in O’Neal basketball begins.
