Falcon Flashback | Corey Rice '94

Athletic Hall of Fame Spotlight

Corey Rice arrived at The O’Neal School in eighth grade and quickly made his mark on the soccer field. By the time he graduated, Corey had become the program’s all-time leading scorer with 114 career goals under Coach George Mauser (1990–1993)—a record that stands as a testament to his skill and determination.
A Record-Setting Career at O’Neal
Rice’s scoring ability and leadership helped elevate O’Neal soccer during a competitive era. His contributions earned him recognition as a First Team All State Selection, a multiple time Conference Player of the Year, O’Neal’s Male Athlete of the Year, and a place among the school’s most valuable players. Corey’s impact extended beyond individual accolades—he was a driving force behind the team’s success and a proud representative of O’Neal athletics.

From O’Neal to the Ivy League
After graduating, Corey continued his soccer career at Princeton University, playing under legendary coach Bob Bradley. While excelling on the field, he earned a B.S. in Biology, demonstrating the same commitment to academics that he showed in athletics.

Leadership Beyond the Field
Following his collegiate career, Corey worked as a commercial contractor before joining The Green Dial as an analyst. His passion for soccer never faded—he returned to the sidelines as head coach of Pinecrest High School’s women’s team, guiding the Patriots to two 4A state championship appearances over seven seasons.

A Legacy of Excellence
Corey Rice’s journey—from record-setting scorer to Ivy League athlete and championship coach—reflects the values of hard work, leadership, and perseverance that define O’Neal athletics. His induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame honors not only his achievements but his lasting influence on the game and the community.
