New O'Neal Faculty and Staff

O’Neal has started the 2017/2018 school year with an enrollment of 462 students, including over 100 new students. In turn, this year includes some changes and growth in the faculty and staff. In addition to our new Head of Upper School Matt Jacobs, who has been previously introduced, the following is a brief biography for each of the new teachers and staff. O’Neal is fortunate to attract and retain these individuals.
Charles Andres
Mr. Andres is O'Neal's Director of Information Technology, and he held the same role at
Norwood School. He has experience working with teachers and students as well as managing
hardware, infrastructure and services. Chuck started his career at The Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts and holds a B.A. in theater arts from Mercyhurst University and an M.F.A. in
production technology from Carnegie Mellon University.

Maureen Morales-Bozovich
Ms. Bozovich is teaching Lower and Middle School Spanish. She has a B.A. in Spanish Studies and a M.A. in Latin American Literature all from the University of Delaware. She comes to O’Neal after serving as Adjunct Professor at Columbia College in Fort Stewart, GA.
 
Paula Daigle
Ms. Daigle is the lead teacher in the second PK-3 classroom. Paula has a wealth of
experience and training and comes to O'Neal after many years at Sandhills Children's Center.
She earned a B.A. at Cedarville University and holds Montessori certification, certification as an
infant toddler family specialist and a North Carolina license in birth to kindergarten.
 
Kathryn Dickerson
Ms. Dickerson is from Arizona and until January taught at Liberty Elementary in
Clarksville, TN. She teaches 5th Grade language arts and social studies. Kathryn earned
her B.S. in elementary education at Bloomsburg University where she was an All-American
soccer player, and she earned a M.S. in math and reading from Walden University.
 
Jessica Gaughan
Dr. Gaughan served as a substitute teacher for O’Neal last year and now teaches science in the Middle School. She has a PhD in chemistry from the University of California – Berkeley preceded by a B.A. in chemistry and mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts. She has had the opportunity to teach in schools across the country.
 
Jeff Haarlow
Mr. Haarlow is a 1992 graduate of O'Neal and he rejoins the School to teach physical education.
Jeff attended Berry College where he was a member of the basketball and golf teams and earned
a B.S. in physical education and sports management. He also earned a M.S. degree in health
and physical education from Jacksonville State University. Jeff coached men's basketball at
Berry College and Tennessee Temple University and was named coach of the year in both
conferences.
 
Mary Herpy
Ms. Herpy is teaching kindergarten. She comes to O’Neal from St. Joan of Arc Elementary School in Chagrin, Ohio. She has a B.A. in early childhood and elementary education from Mercyhurst College and over 30 years of teaching experience.
 
Lindsey Imbs
Ms. Imbs is teaching kindergarten for the coming year. An experienced teacher in PK
through 2nd Grade, she earned her B.A. in English at the University of Florida. Lindsey has
served in a variety of roles throughout her career in Texas and North Carolina and has a strong
interest and knowledge with children and writing.
 
Nicole Camastra
Dr. Camastra comes to O'Neal from the University of Georgia where she was an instructor of
English literature and composition and was a teaching mentor to graduate students. Nicole
earned her B.S. in music and B.A. and M.A. in English Literature at SUNY New Paltz and her
Ph.D. at the University of Georgia. She is teaching Middle School English.
 
Miryah Walters
Ms. Walters is teaching Middle School mathematics. Most recently at West Pine Middle,
Miryah has taught at St. Luke's Lutheran School and the Hackley School (NY) where she was
also the Director of Boarding. She earned a B.A. in mathematics at Concordia University (WI)
and an M.P.S. in educational leadership from Manhattanville College.
 
David Carlson
Mr. Carlson comes to O'Neal from the Middlebury Languages Academy after tenures at Cape
Henry Collegiate School, Low Country Prep and Mount De Sales Academy. He teaches Upper
School French and has a passion for languages and travel. David holds B.A. and M.S. degrees in
psychology /French and an M.A. in French from Middlebury College.
 
Melissa Vaswani
Ms. Vaswani is an experienced mathematics teacher who has taught both middle and upper
levels in CO, TN, Spain and NC, including all three of the Advanced Placement courses. She is teaching Upper School math. Melissa earned a B.S. in civil engineering at the University of Akron and a professional teaching license
at the University of Colorado.
 
Courtney Blocklinger
Ms. Blocklinger is the Pre-K4 assistant teacher to Brooke Cutler. Courtney has a degree from the University of Phoenix, and has spent much of her time as a parent volunteer in the classroom.
 
Jennifer Morris
Ms. Morris is the Pre-K3 assistant teacher to Paula Daigle. An O’Neal parent, Jennifer has volunteered in O’Neal’s classrooms for many years. She has served as PA president and has been an active member of O’Neal’s auction committee.
 
Lorraine Scantlin
Ms. Scantlin is the Pre-K4 assistant teacher for Sunny Sowell. Ms. Scantlin comes to O’Neal form The Garden Montessori & Arts Learning Center in Pinehurst where she served as a teacher assistant.
 
Christy Tall
Ms. Tall is the Pre-K3 assistant teacher for Penny Vest. Ms. Tall has served as a substitute teacher at Bright Meadows Christian Preschool in Seven Lakes. She has a B.A. in psychology/religion from Concordia College.
