Middle School Swim and Varsity Swim
The O’Neal Falcons swam against Trinity Academy of Durham and Chapel Hill and against Burlington Christian Academy virtually. Although we do not have results to share the team is building strength and expanding events to swim at the State championships. Charlie Kuzma qualified in the 100 backstroke, John Shepherd qualified in the 200 freestyle, Alexis Coates qualified in the 100 backstroke and Michaela Stone qualified in the 100 freestyle. We had standout swims from Matthew Fisher in the 100 fly and Sydney Crisco in the 100 Breaststroke. Great job Falcons!
Varsity Cheer
This week, the Varsity Cheer team came back strong after a week off for Thanksgiving Break. They performed their new "levitating" routine at Tuesday night's game and then did a review of stand cheers while still focusing on safety and form in the performance room. Thursday was an exciting day as we had two tumbling coaches from Sandhills Gymnastics on campus to host a one hour tumbling clinic. They went over cartwheels and roundoffs and it was incredibly helpful and productive!
Finally, the cheer team is excited to be able to perform their Homecoming routine not only at the Homecoming game, but also, for an Upper School Winter pep-rally! The team’s three seniors have been hard at work all week choreographing an amazing routine. It's been hard this season not being able to incorporate stunting into the routines like the cheer team is accustomed to, but they have persevered with flexibility and effort to still make jaw-dropping routines!
Middle School Girls Basketball
Our Lady Falcons put in another strong week of practice this week ahead of their home game scheduled for Friday, 4 December against Thales Academy of Apex. After nearly three weeks of practices without a game and a long Thanksgiving break, the Lady Falcons are eager and ready to get back out on the court. Next week, the Lady Falcons will have their last game prior to the winter break in an away contest against St. John Paul II.

The Falcons returned to the court after a week off from games for Thanksgiving Break. The holiday rust showed early for the Falcons who saw a small 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter over Westchester Country Day. A renewed dedication to high-pressure defense re-energized the Falcons who scored 18 points in the second quarter to move to a 9-point lead at the half.
The Falcons rotated many subs throughout the game, as they adjusted to the new in-game mask guidelines. All Falcons in uniform saw playing time and added tremendous energy and defensive effort to the victory. The Falcons were lead in scoring by Ashanti Fox (18 points, 3 asst, 3, 3 stl), Caelan McHarney (15 points, 5 stl), and Kayla Jenkins (11 points, 7 rebounds). Coming off the bench, Hannah Saye provided a defensive spark while also adding 8 points for the Falcons.
In the end, the Falcons grabbed the 56-34 victory to move to 4-0 this season. The Falcons travel to Salem Baptist this Friday, December 4th to kick off Tri-TAC conference play with a 5:30pm tip.

The Falcons had a great road win as they headed to Thanksgiving break at Rocky Mount Academy on Nov. 20 with a 55-39 victory. The Falcons were fantastic on the defensive end of the floor holding RMA to 16 total points in the first half. It certainly was a great team win and it is always satisfying winning on the road.
The Falcons had more than a week off from games with the Thanksgiving break. O'Neal hosted Westchester Academy on Tuesday night in the Hannah Center and showed what their potential could be in a tremendous first quarter jumping out to a 25-8 lead. O'Neal struggled to get shots to go in in the second and third quarter. Heading into the 4th quarter the Falcons held a one-point lead. Westchester ended up taking a nine-point lead with just under two minutes to go. O'Neal came back and had a good shot in the air, but it just didn't go down to send the game to overtime.
The Falcons head on the road, with a 2-2 record, as they open conference play at Salem Baptist Academy on Friday evening.
