Basketball Legend E. Denise “Nisy” Green-English to Lead Girls Basketball Program at The O’Neal School

The O’Neal School is proud to announce that E. Denise “Nisy” Green-English has joined the athletics department as Head Coach of the Middle School and Varsity Girls Basketball teams.

From the playgrounds of Harlem to the national stage, Green-English has built a legacy as a standout shooting guard and inspirational leader. A graduate of Christopher Columbus High School and Georgia State University, she played for elite teams including the Afro Sisters, Each-One-Teach-One, and the NY Chuckles (Women’s AAU). Her career highlights include competing in the Women’s Professional Basketball League and earning induction into the Rucker Professionals Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.

Beyond her playing career, Green-English has dedicated herself to mentoring young athletes. She has led youth training camps in the Bronx, coached championship-winning teams in Yonkers, and worked with girls and boys across North Carolina, including semi-pro women’s Team Elite in Greensboro and youth programs in Carthage.

“Coach Nisy brings not only a wealth of experience and skill, but also a deep commitment to empowering student-athletes through discipline, heart, and hustle,” said O’Neal Athletic Director Lance Stucky. “Her impact on and off the court will be transformative for our girls' basketball program.”

Green-English’s arrival marks a new chapter for O’Neal Athletics, one rooted in excellence, mentorship, and community spirit.
