The O’Neal School Players Celebrate Sold-Out Run of Willy Wonka

Recently, The O’Neal Players delighted audiences with a highly successful production of “Willy Wonka”, playing to sold-out houses for all three performances. The production showcased the talent, creativity, and dedication of O’Neal students across multiple grade levels and marked a standout moment for the School’s performing arts program.
Under the direction of Ms. Joni Warner, with Mr. David Lussier serving as Music Director, Amber Bertagnole as the O’Nealers Director (Oompa-Loompas and Squirrels), and Mrs. Shanna Campbell as Choreographer, the cast brought Roald Dahl’s beloved story to life with vibrant musical numbers, energetic choreography, and memorable performances. The production also benefited from the leadership and support of a dedicated creative and technical team, including student and faculty stage management, design, and crew members.
Directors noted the strong sense of mentorship within the cast, as veteran actors supported and encouraged younger performers, reflecting the collaborative spirit at the heart of O’Neal’s theater program.

In the program letter, the directing team noted, “This production was an incredible journey, seeing new performers step confidently onto the main stage alongside experienced actors, and witnessing the joy from the audience at every performance, made this a truly special experience.”

The production also marked a meaningful milestone, as it was the final main stage performance for a beloved senior performer, Caitlyn Blocklinger, whose contributions to O’Neal performing arts were recognized and celebrated throughout the run.

The sold-out success of “Willy Wonka” highlights the continued growth and enthusiasm for the arts at The O’Neal School and underscores the strong support from families, faculty, and the broader school community.
